Energy Audits

An energy audit is the first step in assessing how much energy a facility consumes and determining measures for reduction without sacrificing occupant comfort. Audits typically identify opportunities to reduce energy use by 20% to 50%.

Energy Management utilizes a comprehensive ‘whole building’ approach over individual systems to accurately identify energy-saving opportunities. These audits are conducted on buildings based upon multiple, flexible criteria, including:

  • High Energy Use Intensity (EUI) compared to similar buildings
  • Total energy consumption
  • Unexplained increases in energy consumption
  • Customer or Facilities Division requests

Energy Management prioritizes ASHRAE Level 2 for most audits, which require a detailed analysis to develop energy conservation measures. Through this approach, these audits can identify:

  • Significant Energy Users (SEUs)
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Opportunities for energy savings
  • Action plans for capital projects or strategic investments
